Mera Peak (6640 m.)

Nepal Peak climbing ยป Mera Peak climbing

This small expedition to the highest and most popular trekking peak in Nepal is mainly a high-altitude trek and climb, people need to be fit and conversant with the use of an ice-axe and crampons. Instruction in the use of these will be given in Kathmandu and also at our base camp near Mera La if required. The climb itself necessitates establishing a high-camp at 5,800m on the Mera glacier before attempting the summit the next day. The climb itself takes the north face glacier; it is a steady push to the summit ridge which leads somewhat precariously to the top. Reaching the summit is a very rewarding experience providing some wonderful vistas that take in Kangchenjunga and Makalu to the east with Everest Nuptse and Lhotse to the north. To the west stand the spires of Ama Dablam and Kang Taiga... We return to Base camp at the end of a long day. A further five days are taken returning to lukla for the flight back to Kathmandu.
